I have had over 9 months lay off from running and its finally been diagnosed as Osteitis Pubis. Total rest from running, plenty of 'pilates' type stretching and considerable patience is required. Typically this is an over use injury which may also be caused by some under lying bio mechanical problem. In my case, it appears to be weak glutes. It can take up to 2 years for the symptoms to disappear but I hope in both mine and your instance, this is not the case. Its driving me nuts not being able to run!!

I have been off running now for 7 months with what I believe is an adductor injury. I have had an MRI which is inconclusive. I have also had physio and osteopathy but still no progress. I am gradually pulling my hair out as I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I have been maintaining some semblance of fitness via static bike, rowing machine and swimming but all of these seem to antagonise the injury, although give me no pain whilst I am doing these exercises. Aalso stretching seems to make it worse. Do these symptome sound familiar to anyone? Should I just have complete rest from all activity (except walking) for a period of weeks? If anyone can offer any help / words of encouragement I would be really grateful. Not being able to run is killing me!

Training very hard for FLM gunning for a sub 3 hour PB. Then disaster - groin injury that seemed to develop rather than a single pull. Pain is upper inner thigh. I have RICE'd it; had physio treatment & ultrasound but after 6 weeks its is no better. I can't feel any pain when I press the injury, I can stretch it without it hurting and it doesn't hurt when I walk or do gentle cycling / swimming. But within a few hours of stopping any exersice, however gentle, it becomes quite painful. I have thrown in the towel for this years FLM but now just want it to get better. The physio has given up on me - is it worthwhile getting a scan or is it just rest, rest, rest?

I haven't run this before but looking for a good Spring / early summer marathon to attempt a PB. Is this a good course for this objective - I am slightly put off by the 'undulating' description?

Princess,
If you're up for Paris, best bet is via Sports Tours International, who will provide race entry as part of a travel / accommodation package. Still clinging to the hope that the post is late and that I will be accepted into FLM! |
