Thanks - that puts my mind at ease a bit. It was a tough run, but not horrific, so hopefully with some rest this week I'll be able to race a decent time.
So today was to be my last long run before a half marathon in 2 weeks, and I was going to start my tapering from tomorrow.
However, due to family commitments which have come up today, I now can't race in 2 weeks time, but have found another race I can do next Sunday.
I did 21km today - if I take this whole week off will I be recovered in time to post a reasonable time next week or should I just forget it and plan another race in a few more weeks?
I wouldn't have said so.
I did my first Marathon in October, and was back up and running comfortably within a week. I guess everyone is different, but if you are sensible, and listen to your body you should be fine.
Does anyone have any photos of the event? There was someone taking photos just before the turn into the home straight, which would have captured people soaked to the skin and covered in mud, so he must have got some great photos!
