Felt rough about 4 weeks ago, nothing specific just below par. Noticed an increase in HR when running but nothing that rang alarm bells.
Then 3 weeks ago I did a long (23 mile) run and struggled to keep my HR under control, it was about 20 – 30 BPM above my expected range.
Rested for 2 weeks.
Went to the doctor to confirm self diagnosis, viral infection (no blood tests just obvious symptoms)
Rested again for a week
Yesterday convinced myself I was feeling better, resting HR quite normal (46bpm)
Went for a _gentle_ run last night and I really struggled to keep my HR down, it’s about 20bpm up on what it should be.

What should I do to aid recovery?
Gentle slow exercise?
Complete rest?
Any foods/supplements that could help?

How long would you expect it to take to recover?

All constructive help and experience gratefully received

that reminds me I must take mine out of the bag from the last race!

I've folded it up for the last 3 years and it's been fine.

And that was August.

It's a purely practical decision.
I live close enough to Luton to see the faint orange glow of the burning cars on a Saturday night.
So I can race and be home in time for tea.
I'm not going for glory or the scenery, just going for a training run.
