yes there should still be places left in charities in October, however not the ones that you were aiming for... i have just submitted my ballot for 09 as well after taking 2 years out of running due to personal problems, i did the 06 marathon through shelter and loved it. althoug the £5000 fund raising request was a bit of a hard task.. i only managed to raise £3000... luckly they were okay....

You will have to think are you going to raise money for charity if you do get a ballot place or are you just going to run. and if your going to run it for charity then why not go through that charity in the first place...

anyway can wait till i get my fleece.. looks nice and cozy.

yeah i was using my Garmin 305 in Gran Canaria most mornings and it works fine. Its GPS so it has world data sent to it via satalite no matter where you are. I did have to download a package onto my computer though so it recognised the tarrain layout.

ive done that heated pin thing numerous times. it does hurt but only a little. nothing compated to the pain you would feel if the pressure was to keep buinding up beneath your nail. Just take a deep breath and put a hole in it!

i can definatly see marathon feaver. i had 3 people join me on my run today and i have 7 other friends who also want to start comming with me. may end up starting my own running club lol!
