Yes, why not give the money anyway, and give it now...very good point.....and personally I chose to do it that way....others may not wish to or can afford little by little hence the link to the daily running.
My thought/suggestion was an attempt at trying to involve group participation in a goal challenge linked to the giving for the Philippines.
The running community is a very generous one. We know there is a mass participation in running fundraising event for good causes in general.
No harm done in me trying to involve collective participation - it is always worth a try! Even if it keeps the awareness high...
No races planned. Did just one last year, not got round to entering any. I try to mix it between slow and steady short runs (which I count as my 'rest') and moderately quick longer runs. On average I look for running at least 1 x5k and 1 10k timed & measured run per month to keep the speed and the interest!
