Hi!! Not got time to have a proper read back of the last three months or so since I last signed in (my, how time flies) but will have a bit of a butcher's and seems little has changed, still some great running going on. Hope all are well anyway. Main reason I haven't felt like posting or even lurking is that I only ran for the first time since early June on Sept 1 after I developed a problem after last race. It's either sciatica or piriformis syndrome by sounds of it but I couldn't afford to keep on going private so am still waiting for an NHS physio appt. But it hasn't gotten any worse and in mean time I'd been walking to and sometimes from work (about 10 miles in total) most days. And aim to go for my fourth run tonight since my tentative comeback. Am only going for 25 mins tonight and taking it easy but i was getting sick of not being able to do any running and, touch wood, it's not making it worse. Got plenty of stretches to do as well. Marathons, hey! Oh well, far more fortunate than one FLM 'colleague' who has suspected Spinal Stenosis, which is nasty. Am about as skinny as I was in April though from all the walking! Glad I'm going for pizza tomorrow night Happy running anyway and looking forward to hopefully being back... |

Hello! Hope all are going well. I've not run for over 10 days now. Went and did that track meeting and took part in 200 and 800m on the Monday after I'd run my second 10k inside a week (thanks for the congrats by the way) and it clearly finished me off! Legs didn't really feel up for it on the night for one thing. Next day, and ever since, the back of my upper left leg has been sore and tight so running has been well and truly off the cards.
I can't tell if it's a specific hamstring problem or whether it's just muscle fatigue. But I think I got carried away with speedwork and it's done me in! So it doesn't look at all good for the next summer league 10k this weekend (Metros). Just having to take it easy, been to chiropractor and it does appear to be easing slightly. Been on x-trainer twice this week for 30 and 35 mins a time, maintaining av HR 148 though to try and keep the fitness levels up.
Other reason for lack of posts is I haven't had any internet connection at home for past couple of weeks and it won't be back on till Monday - grrrrr.
Am now mulling over my racing plans for the coming weeks and months... |

A hive of activity once again. Well done to all those who have been out. Well I have had my best race since the FLM and boy does it feel good (funny posting a race report on a saturday!). The Dorney Dash today, almost perfect 10k conditions apart from a bit of a head wind as it was v exposed (round the 2012 Olympic rowing lake) and the drizzle thankfully remained just that. I just wanted a pb and a sub-40 at the very least. Former pb was 39:35 and I managed a very evenly-paced race and finished in 39:11 - 36th out of 661. Very happy with that and can now look to breaking 39 as my next tergat. That was my second 10k in a week and third race in three so I think I'll ease off racing a little now although got next summer league 2 weeks tomorrow in Harrow. Funnily enough that's where I got my last 10k pb and I have a feeling it was 3 years ago to the day!! A few short track events on Monday night though all being well - in the vets league! Found out that I now qualify as a club vet as they've reduced the age bracket to 35 for men as well. Ah well, is the 21st century I guess. Now where did i put those slippers.. Will have a proper read back shortly, hope all are well. |

Just had more of a look back. Great racing folks! I know three people who did Edinburgh and sounds like an absolute nightmare running out of water like that. Jezza/OO - I would love to get that for a 10k, will try my best to beat my PB this Sat then Seriously good sesh tonight running round a playing field in three groups, relay fashion; went with the faster lot and managed to keep up and then some! Rest tomorrow, return to track on Weds then I'm having two days off before 10k on Sat. |
