| PS - the wallabies aren't there anymore. There was a colony of "escapees" that used to live there, but the last one died a few years back. |

The race is an out-and-back run from Meerbrook village to Shutlingsloe Summit via the Roaches (a gritstone escarpment). Terrain is varied, some fields, rocky path along the Roaches ridge, a river crossing (knee deep), muddy forest tracks, steep scramble up and down Shutlingsloe. The route is only marked/marshalled at strategic points, so you need to have an idea of where you are going (the route through the back forest of the Roaches seems the trickiest I find, and I'm a "local"). I think it is a good race, but I'm biased!
