Mister W - thanks so much. Sometimes you just need to be told you'll be ok! I've just seen the osteopath for the last time, and she says I'm healing very well, and very quickly - though it may not feel like it! - and I should be running comfortably next week.
Thankyou, thankyou - and good luck to everyone in looking after yourselves in these last few days. xx
I'm having a nightmare with an injury too. Very annoying as I'm in much better shape, generally, than I was last year for my first attempt (oh, the wisdom of experience). I've got a strained tendon in my foot - not serious, having it treated, but it's taking forever to go...haven't done a proper run (apart from a pathetic shuffle for 20 minutes on Saturday!) since my 20 miler, just over 2 weeks ago.
Everyone's saying I'll be fine on the day - I just have to rest, etc. - but I'm worried about not doing shorter, faster runs to keep me sharp, and the fitness up. Help!!
Blimey, it's good to know we're all in the same boat (not quite the Cutty Sark though - yet...). I did 8 miles on Tuesday - and that's it. Shroom - my ankle and shin splints (minor) are causing me grief. You're right - it feels like my legs have decided enough is enough. So much for the carefully planned tapering. I'll be lucky if I get another 2 runs in. Just lots of stretching. Not so worried about feeling sluggish -I've been told that's normal. I just want my legs to hold up - but I'm sure we'll all be fine. Good luck to all - especially fellow marathon virgins! Oh - and mine's a pint!
