I've missed out too - very disappointed, as this is the first year for ages where it didn't clash with a completely different event I enter with my wife. The stinger was my first race ever and I've only managed to enter it that once
What I don't understand is why they have such a small entry - the year I did it there were people starting almost whenever they wanted, so its not as if the tracks are ever crowded.
And no waiting list - what about the people who cant run ? Surely every race has people who would really appreciate not only getting their money back but allowing someone who really wanted to run a last-minute place ? Injuries do happen ! There are never going to be loads, after all, but anyone in that situation is really grateful for that chance (I know, I've been on both sides)
And before some clever-clogs says I should have entered earlier, I had too many injuries last winter that caused me to pull out of events, so I'm trying to be cautious and not throw my entry money away !
Haha ! And I thought Rob was being kind to the very intrepid marshals (many many thanks to them) and shortening the route ! I am not complaining at all as when I realised we had not 'gone down the back' I picked up my pace and still managed a first of getting up those !"£$% steps without dropping to a walk In those conditions, I think a shorter race was better for the marshals (and some skimpily-clad peeps), so anyone who complains should try standing out in force 6 gusting 9 rain for an hour.
If it doesn't rain next year I promise to wear even more pink
Damn ! All you fit people able to book places without worrying
I had to pull out last year at the last minute and sell my place, so if anyone can return the favour this year I would be most obliged, having just completed the duathlon that tore my achilles last year .
