Very, very long time since I was on here but a rainy Bank Holiday Monday means time to play on the interweb - life has been extremely busy over the last couple of years with work, enjoying weekends (watching footie and athletics, going to gigs, etc), and holidays. Not a huge amount of running done lately - I do try to get out 2-3 times a week but not high mileage - mainly 5k's/5 milers. Last Half Marathon was Reading in March. Last Marathon was London in 2012. Have of course entered the ballot for next year but hopefully I won't get a place!
Lost my Mum completely unexpectedly in April which was a shock as she was only 73. Oldest son (26) got married last month. Started a new job with Breast Cancer Care two weeks ago as their Director of Services & Engagement. Based in London so easier for me to get to any meet-ups there if planned.
I do keep in touch with some of your goings-on via Facebook. Will try to pop in now and again!
Hello all, newbies and oldies! A quick and infrequent post from me. Hope everyone is well and running and/or recovering well.
Still not running much - little and often. Next booked race is a local 10K in June.
Not long now until my Wedding - this Saturday in fact, in a riverside hotel next to the Thames in Reading. Not sure if anyone has mentioned, either on here or on Facebook, but I've invited Susan, Lou and Colin as representees of the Forum. Would have loved to have invited more but already up to nearly 90 guests so unfortunately wasn't possible, but I will be thinking of you all and will post a piccie when I get back from honeymoon - 5 days in Rome from Monday-Friday next week.
Will be spending Sunday morning watching the Marathon on TV as home alone as fiancee is away for the weekend on hen do ahead of Wedding on 17th May (5 weeks' tomorrow - eek!).
Good luck to those running - Ikle, Wendy? Anyone else? Will be with you all in spirit. Had a coaching session at work today and talked a lot about managing the inner gremlin and need for affirmation so repeat after me - "I am a marathoner, I am a marathoner". Good luck!
Amazing marathon performances all round! Total admiration, and total determination never to run another one myself! It is a bloomin' long way and the training takes it's toll, so very happy to have done 8 and sticking with that
