Ash, There are lots of canal runs from the centre of M'cr. My 2 favourites are (1) the one that starts off on Gt Ancoats St near the Toys R us (not Piccadilly) and goes for ages. Make sure you are on the RH bank though. The canal runs parallel with Oldham Rd, if you look on Google Maps. (2) is the one that starts at various places and goes out past the Council House (sorry, Etihad Stadium) then continues towards the Velodrome and eventually out to places like Dukinfield. Sorry, I don't know the names of the canals but both are very pleasant runs.
