I'm off. Broken, and unable to run, swim, cross train or anything. You don't wanna come close! Got a suspected "sportsman's hernia" which is a tear or strain in the muscle by the groin and luckily there's nothing trying to pop through! Been off for most of the year so far, and it may well be another two or three months ;-(
Barbara, well done for your February toal! is that the first time you've been over 100 miles in a month? 110 for March?
today's run was to see if I could physically get round next week's 20 miler. 12 miles hurt, but the abdominal muscle pain (the main problem) wasn't the problem - it was the tight adductors caused by the strain that slowed me down! Anyway, I decided that there's no way I could do sub 9 minute miling x 20 (pb is about 8:45 pace, last marathon was 8:37 pace) and there's a chance I'd slow to 10 minute pace in the last quarter. Enough to finish, but not worth the pain. A club-mate is keen to have my number as part of his London prep, so no loss.

I'm still broken, but this week have managed a half marathon, parkrun and this morning a 12 mile steady run. It got slower and slower as my thighs tightened, and as soon as I got home I e-mailed next week's race director to pull out. No way I can do a 20 miler in this state!
Back to the physio / acupuncture tomorrow, then just cross training for another month or two I think. No races left entered now, except the September marathon...
