| FooFighter - c'mon, it _is_ flat. It's about as flat as you'll get anywhere outside Norfolk. |

| Rick - if you can run Sheffield in 81 minutes, then Eyam should hold no fear for you. Last Sunday, I would have been somewhere back at around the 11.5 mile mark when you were crossing the finishing line - respect! |

Brer Rabbit - The Eyam Half Marathon website was updated this morning. It says "around 500 entries", and that entries are still being taken. When I entered a week ago there were approx. 90 places left. Dunno how many are left now. I'd get your skates on if I were you. Go on, you know you want to. |

| Rick - My Eyam Half time is 9 minutes slower than my Sheffield Half time, if that's any help. Eyam definitely isn't a PB course, but I'd give it 10 out of 10 for sheer enjoyment. If you love running, you'll love the Eyam Half. No air pollution, no traffic fumes (coz there's no traffic - and that's despite the fact that there are no road closures!), just lovely people, beautiful scenery and a tremendous sense of achievement as you cross the finish line. Oh, and fab pubs in the village for a post-race pint & pie! And the weather is always warm and sunny by lunchtime, once the run has finished and you're sat in a pub beer garden. |

Michael Tinker - Eyam Half and then Buxton Half the week after??? You crazy fool! You must have calf muscles like Popeye after spinach (mine are more like Popeye's _before_ spinach, sadly). I have never known pain like the final climb to the mast at mile 11.5, the first time I ran the Eyam Half. Yet strangely I've come back for more, every year since 2005, like a moth to a flame .... I've never run the Buxton Half, but I've heard that it's as hilly as Eyam. Maybe I could treat the Eyam Half as a mere hill training session in preparation for Buxton? But somehow I don't think that a week will be enough time in which to recover... |
