Hey everyone, can't believe our thread still going! Most of you I catch up with now and again on Facebook.
Been out of action since August last year as spiral fracture in toe and stress fracture in 5th metatarsal and midfoot. Been in an air cast until a few days ago. To say I have been going out of my mind with not running is an understatement!!! Still a long way to go and only just re learning to walk. No marathon for me this year which I'm particularly gutted about as was so close to sub 4hr last April. So hoping to be fit enough for 2014 and as will be just after my 50th if I go sub 4 it will be a GFA. Gatton maybe we can start training together slowly?
So what is everyone up to and anyone doing London/Brighton this year or similar?
Daz best of luck for Sunday and you too Dave - hope you have a great run and hit your targets. Not been on here for sooo long now I tend to speak to most on Facebook or email. I did Brighton on Sunday - nearly didn't make the start line due to back problems again - and came in with 4:00:05........so so close to sub 4 but under the circumstances and considering when I first came on this forum I was doing 5:35 marathon times, I'm pretty chuffed!!
Anyone else got any other races lined up? Caro are you back running again yet or is it still too early after Eric was born?
Hi Vik hope you are feeling better now. And can you all please get your hands off Colin so I can have a go?!?
I did 18 on Saturday morning and tried a different eating strategy as the jelly babies had been making me feel so sick. I ditched the lucozade too and went with some oat and ginger cookies munching on half to one every 4 or so miles. Tummy was fine but after about 12 miles I did feel so much more tired and heavy legged than on the 16 the week before. Not sure what I can try next - it seems to be the high sugar that does it - so any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Gels (I've used High 5 in the past) also seem to leave me feeling icky. Foxy Lady do you find the lucozade jelly beans ok? How many packets would you need for a marathon?
Hi everyone - finally found time to pop in after so long to say hello! Hope everyone is fit and well and injury free - Gatton how is the jogging coming along? Mr T now cycling 30 miles at a time at weekends and not even a year since his op.
Fab news on arrival of baby Eric - many congrats Caro
Been keeping in touch with most of you via facebook but how is running going for you all and who is doing London/Brighton/Paris or other marathon? Can't believe its 6 years since i first came on here!! I'm doing Brighton and really hoping to get closer to the magic 4 hrs. Running 45 ish miles per week at the moment so all I seem to do is work, eat, sleep, run! Oh and cart Little Pinks around to various rowing training/events.
