No running this week yet but lots of bike miles. 90 to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday, 70m round the Island Wed, and 90m back home yesterday. Went well apart from a puncture and now have extremely suntanned arms! Back to the more normal commute to work this morning.
Padams - Would be seriously impressed if you got down to your target - what's your pb at present?
Not posting much as hardly running - no more than 3 sessions a week just to keep things ticking over. On the bike prob 12 - 14 hrs/week - only 3 weeks till Roth and as I'm only doing the bike section would like to get to as near as 5 hours as possible. Nothing to base this on other than the 5.42 I did 2 years ago and the fact that I feel a lot faster and fitter on the bike now than then.
TT - haven't really read back much as there's miles of it but good luck with the recovery.
TR - Probably right but I did taper as I had been training fairly hard. Still, Roth (bike section only as relay team) is main focus so not overly worried. Just bought some profile T2 cobra bars which should arrive early next week.
Selbs - congrats on the huge pb
Piscator - same here on the gels, always concerned I'll stagger home on empty.
Wardi - at present it seems to be taking away, although bike fitness is def increasing quickly.
Bazo - another one with a pb - congrats
BR - could be but almost 6 weeks on the bike now so was hoping it might aid the running. Could just be getting older and slower. that's what the kids tell me anyway. Well done on the parkrun.
Dissapointing half M this morning - St Albans - 9th in 1.17.59. Have upped the bike to about 150 - 200m a week and dropped the running to 40 ish but still hoped for far better than this. Felt tired from the off and did a few miles at 5 1/2mm including the last but really suffered on the hills. Padams - you seem to to well on both - what's the secret?
What's the view on long runs? read somewhere in AW that it's better to do them without taking gels etc to get your body better at burning fats - I've always taken them - what do others do?
