i have tried Atkins and managed to run a half marathon while on it. But I felt dangerously ill afterwards.  I had palpitations and I almost fainted.   I just about made it home in one piece.

Having said that I lost 10kg after about a month and maintained the weight loss even after Atkins for over a year.  If I had to do it again I would go for a modified version.   High protein, low carbs but not going into Ketosis and definitely nothing more than a 5k run while on it.

a friend of mine had asked if I would run for Cosmic -  Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care in Paddington but I  had already accepted a place on the Whizz-Kidz team.  I don't know if they still have places but it's worth a try.

A friend has asked if I would consider running for a charity that is dear to her, but I have already accepted a place with Whizz Kidz.  If there are any still looking for GB places COSMIC (Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care) have places available.  They are asking runners to raise £1,250.  They are a small charity and do lots of good work to help seriously ill children.  You can look them up at http://www.cosmiccharity.com

I've spent the last week incessantly reading this thread then checking my bank account in that order!I finally gave up after midnight yesterday. Really sad I know, but I waited for the most recent transactions to go through when nothing showed up I registered for Paris!!  Peace at last!

I'm a bit concerned about the organisation and what it is like for sub 5 hour runners like me! But at least I can train with all those who were lucky enough to get a ballot place.  Good luck everyone.
