Cool, yeah my calfs just feel dead stiff\tight not really painful per se.
I find that the forefoot striking is most natural when trying to run faster on the track.
I'm going to try persevering with it then, thanks Andrew.

How did you find it on your calfs, using the Gordon Pirie method?
I've been giving it a go this week, and ow! my calfs are dead stiff. :o)

I wouldn't have thought the speed matters, just how far you run... since to lose weight "all" you need to do is burn more energy than you take in.
I read somewhere that no matter how fast you run you it takes the same amount of energy to cover the same distance. So if you run 5miles at any speed, you should burn the same number of calories.
If you think about it technically, no matter how fast you do it, you're still transporting the same mass over the same distance, so all should be equal. |

I wish I'd known that it was okay to feel sore or knackered when running\racing, or rather that everyone did. For some reason at first I would only ever run at a comfortable pace even when racing and assumed that's what all the fast folks did as well. (well they always look so comfortable on the telly!) Took me a while to realise that you need to push yourself hard to get faster... doh!
Do you suppose I actually need to work to keep getting my wages at work too?

Just wondered if anyone else has had similar problems or might know anything.
I seem to quite often have stomach pain, sometimes for days on end, to the point where I only feel comfortable wearing loose trousers, and find myself going to the bathroom 4or5 times a day, often straight after eating. Most annoyingly I tend to have to keep running all the way to the bathroom after a run. Occaisonally when i think I need the loo, when I get there I don't actually need to (or can't) my stomach just feels like i do...
Now then when I'm not training, I find these symptoms ease up and kindasorta go away... but come back when in training...
Could this be that Irritable Bowel Syndrome i've heard a little about or some food intolerance? Seems a bit weird that it gets worse while training though... I've considered changing sports but I love running so much.
On a brighter note, my poorly knee is much better now, so I can run again! wahey! :o)
Okay now I feel embarrased for talking about my bowels in public. :o) |
