In IMUK recently, there was a guy near me that I kept overtaking as he was breaststroking for a minute in every five or so. It p*ssed me off after a while and I finally left him behind!! I couldn't swim f/c a year ago and nearly drowned every time I tried until I slllooooowwwwed right down. Once I'd done that, breathing became easy and within two weeks I could do 100 lengths no probs. Then comes the speed. No lessons, just sensible stuff. Good luck and remember that the swim's just a mild inconvenience to get you to the start... |

Hi Mick, You might remember me - we've met a few times over the last couple of years - I have a disabled boy named Riley, who also has cerebral palsy that affects him in a similar manner to Phil's condition. Well, you have inspired me to take up running with him and he really enjoys it. I'm interested in running in some races and wondered how you go about it. Some stupid questions... 1. Do you need any special insurance? 2. Do you ask for permission to start races or just turn up? 3. Do you know of a flattish UK marathon that isn't too expensive and difficult to enter? I'm running FLM (without Riley) so it would need to be mid-May at the earliest. I hope you get to read this and look forward to seeing you at some races. Don't worry - I won't keep up with you two and won't be claiming that THIS IS EASY! Cheers, Lee (aka LifeofRiley) |

| Mine always smells of lake. Mrs LoR has relegted it to the garage, so I have to shake out the spiders before I get it out each time. Urgh. |

I couldn't bring myself to part with the dollar. Cheap it ain't! Mrs LoR nearly had a heart attack when she saw how much IMUK was just to enter, so she wouldn't have taken kindly to a familiarisation weekend.
Look forward to hearing the report though! |
