Hi everyone, I am so impressed by everyone's running ambitions and plans. I've been too ashamed to post a message as I haven't actually run once since FLM! Still, I'm planning to go for lots of exhilerating runs in New Zealand (3 days to go, yippee!).
Just wanted to post to say HOORAY!! I finally have some marathon photos up on the actionphoto site :o) Although they are pretty hideous (no. 3081 if you want a giggle).
Morning everyone, sorry I've been a bit quiet - hope you've all had a nice Easter weekend. All this talk of Auckland is really weird! I'm off to NZ in under 2 weeks - my treat to myself for finishing the marathon and my thank you to my partner for putting up with me for the past 3 months! The Auckland Marathon sounds wonderful Murf, hope you enjoy it.
The high is wonderful, isn't it? I am so happy just to have run FLM :o)
The 1st half of the marathon was just like last year's GNR - impossible to go too fast because there were just so many runners. I actually found I had more problems with my own speed & staying constant in the second half because of all the people who had to resort to walking whether they had planned or wanted to or not. The only people who annoyed me were spectators standing in the road at really narrow points like Westferry. But I think you have to accept that and enjoy the run for the occasion rather than the speed.
At the end of the day FLM is a busy route but that's part of what makes it so special and amazing :o) (Still on a high)
