great idea running a bus to a race thats only a 45 minute drive away, nothing to do with stopping at one of Girvan's finest and rehydrating after the race ;-)

oh are we stopping at the chippie on way home too?

if you fancy doing a different half why not try the Girvan half on the 19th March, cracking route and well hosted by a small club and really deserves a decent entry.

malaysian curried salmon

ingredients;

4 cloves
4 cardomen pods(discard shells)
1 tsp cumin seeds
2tsp coriander seeds
1tsp ground turmeric
1/2tsp salt
1tsp black peppercorns
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp chilli powder

1 tsp olive oil
1 medium onion finely diced
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 green chilli chopped(seeds removed)leave in if you want more heat
1can of coconut milk(or coconut milk light)
1/4 pint chicken or veg stock
1 salmon steak skin on

method
grind the spices using a pestle and mortar to a fine grind(pre ground spices can be used)
warm a non stick pan(omelette pan is fine) and warm the ground spices to help release the flavours then remove from the heat.
in another pan heat the oil and sweat the onion for 3-4mins until soft but not coloured, add the garlic&green chilli and sweat for further 2mins then add the spices, cook gently for 2more minutes then add the stock and coconut milk simmer gently for 10mins if sauce reduces and thickens too much add a touch of water.to cook the salmon use a small non stick pan and very lightly oil the bottom place the salmon flesh side down and leave for 2mins until the flesh is slightly golden, turn over and cook a further 2mins then add the sauce to the salmon and cook gently for 5-7mins depending on size of salmon, serve with some boiled jasmin rice(try dropping lemon grass or lime leaves into the water when cooking)

substitute the salmon with vegetables of your choice or chicken or king prawns
