Morning all

Been MIA for a little while due to work distractions.

I've just recovered from a 24hr stomach bug at the weekend and I'm hoping to be okay for my first race in a couple of years next weekend.

Someone was asking about a fast 10k a few pages back? Might want to check this one out.....

Flat 10k 29th June

I'm planning on making a trip down to it from the North West and it looks like it should be an entry of 500+ so there should be a decent atmosphere even though the scenery looks a bit dull.

Anyone started their DCM prep yet? My plans are for a 14 week schedule off a solid weekly mileage whilst building up race fitness along the way.

Must work out when that means I'm due to officially start some time!

SJ

P.S. Hope your mum is improving LR.

Running Maple.

I think you need to make the distinction between "Racer/Trainers" - typically 250-300g for a UK9 (mens) and "Competition Flats" which will weigh less than 250g (some even sub-200!).

If it is for a half marathon, my advice would be to go for the former as the extra cushioning will be more useful over the longer distance for injury prevention etc. If you are tempted to drop down to 5k/10k then the flats would definitely make a difference IMHO.

My recommendation:

Racer Trainer

Hope this helps.

Very 50's GFB (1950's that is, as opposed to any age-related reference) which can only be a cool thing.

Mrs SJ has something very similar as a matter of fact.

I'm sure you'll look gorgeous.

P.S. Just need the Amy Winehouse/Marie Wilson haircut to finish the look off now!

That's the spirit GFB!

I've often found denial works well for me too.

Morning all.

Chin up SL, I know exactly how you feel. It will come good again, I'm sure.

News from the SJ camp is that after a couple of bad runs last weekend caused by a combination of too much booze the night before coupled with hot and humid conditions, I have taken the radical decision to swop my daily bottle of wine with three litres of water as a little experiment for a couple of weeks.

Much to my enormous frustration I have to report that so far it has had a very positive impact on my running.

SJ

GFB - after this wedding is over and things take their inevitable sequence of events, have you given much thought to the prospect of being "Granny"?
