Hello and well done on completing the race. The conditions were certainly "interesting".

Not much to add to what Chieffy and Michelle have said, but I'll hazard a guess that the sharp responses on this thread weren't from PLS members, who really did our very best on Sunday to make the race a good experience for everyone.

As you've noted yourself, the conditions in the offroad section following the very heavy rain in the preceding days, would have justified a no headphones rule, even if it weren't a UKA rule.

I was marshalling in the park and you may be amused to hear we spent the morning moving standing water and broken tree branches, marking potholes as well as tree roots and positioning marshals in such a way that we were able to warn runners about upcoming hazards.

I know how you feel about music as I recall feeling the same way in my first few races. But honestly, club races, marshalled by people who know *exactly* how painful it is because they've been there and done it and will give you lots of support, are a really good opportunity to try losing the crutch...

Sadly this isn't a surprise.

Other half works in the arts sector in Liverpool and has had events which involve road closures hit by similar charges. I'll ask how they got around it - if they did-  and try to get back to you.

It is nonsensical. Like the running events, the arts/culture/tourism events in question are usually tourism revenue attracting and often part funded/supported by the local authority because they meet various other local authority objectives and bring revenue into the city, not to mention being delivered by organisations which attract authority funding.

Hopefully, the answer here is as simple as asking arm A (the one that has some responsibility for health strategy in the city maybe? that gives some funding to Run Liverpool) to have a quiet word with arm B.

Thanks Brian. Some great photos - and they've allowed me to identify the flying banana, who made me smile when flying past me many miles ahead on the day.

I don't know the man, but running 1:14 dressed as a fruit does deserve kudos of some sort. So well done Andrew Ridley
