What a brilliant achievement by knocking 43 mins off your time.. how did you do it??? tips please.. webrunner - no photos of me on there, me thinks just as well as don't want to be reminded of how much of a wreck I looked after Sunday night (I hid out the way of the cheese and stroked the donkeys instead)... Wish we could go back a week and do it all again.
Completed Amsterdam marathon... Next one is Benidorm at end of November but wish I had chosen Majorca instead as Benidorm is only 5 weeks away this weekend! I have a feeling that this might be my last marathon (if I don't get in London) as my legs killed after 20 miles (completed Blackpool in June and can't remember them hurting as much). Would like to thank Mick The Runner for a brilliant trip away.
Just an update... Completed Amsterdam marathon in 4:42:32 in old faithfuls so they held up well and feet were okay. Bit disappointed in time as I only improved on previous marathon at Blackpool by 3 minutes, and the weather and conditions there were appalling so really did expect a better time. My friend did well as she completed Amsterdam in 4:35:30 so 10 minutes off her time. I was going quite well till 20 miles then my legs just felt like lead weights (can't remember it feeling as bad as that at Blackpool). Mind you I was running with a little extra weight! Must lose 10lbs for next marathon which is at Benidorm at the end of November! Oh well, at least I have good weekends away. BTW - got myself some Mizuno Wave Rider 8's so will start to break them in this weekend.
Thanks for the advice.... I will go and buy new trainers today and go for run in them tomorrow however I think my old faithfuls may be called upon next week for last tour of duty.
