Hi - this is a post that I put on a recent thread;
'Hi, I have a border terrier who is now 7. Started mountain walking with him at 7 months and running with him at 18 months - had to wait for his little body to be fully formed to prevent any injuries. He does love to go running and will run at the front of the pack with the fast men. He just runs by our side and doesn't like to be interrupted on his runs by other dogs who come sniffing - but just think that this is down to the breed. He has done my marathon training with me and did the Milford XC 21 mile run earlier this year.
A lot like humans - more food after he has been for a run, well hydrated, not taking him out when he is tired or when it is too hot.'
A good breed that are non-yappy and are were used to run with the hunt. No problems with him running away - he tends to stay close by. He goes out every morning too and does hill sessions with his ball - tend to wear him out until we take him out again later on the evening.
A big commitment to have a dog but its worth it!

A friend of mine has a patterdale - great dog and well suited to running. |

Hi, I have a border terrier who is now 7. Started out slowing running with him at 18 months although he was an experienced mountain walker by this stage. He has done my marathon training with me and has completed the Milford 21 mile race.
The same with humans really - only take him out on cool days, make sure that he is well fed and watered, no over extertion. He just trots alongside me but likes to be up front with the faster runners in a group. Any signs of tiredness then I don't take him.
When watching races, he loves the start and goes beserk trying to get off the lead to join the runners.

Hi very tempted to do this one. Did Rotterdam in 3.33 but suffered really badly with blisters. Not sure whether to do Cardiff or Amsterdam. Will let you know when I decide - in the meantime, happy training!

| Hi Phys, the feet are getting there! A bit tender on the toes though and my feet look rough in sandals! |
