Have been 'managing' PF now for a few weeks (icing, stretching etc) and have been to a physio a couple of times - have been running for almost 10 years and this is the first time that this bugger of an injury has struck
Doing the VLM and terrified now that I've blown it - did my last LSR (22 miles) last weekend; went for physio on Tuesday, walk on Friday and then did a really low quality 10k plod y'day.
Don't know what to do next?!?!? Wrap myself in cotton wool for 2 weeks or try a couple of more (short) runs just to keep things ticking over??
Just wondering how long people have been off work with broken toes?
Was at my GP yesterday and he said he was happy to give me a cert for up to 6 weeks (!!). I work in an office (so 7-8 hours sitting down with foot not elevated) and have a 40 min drive each way so he said not to even consider going back until after 3 weeks.
He also advised to start cycling before starting swimming...less pressure on the toes apparently.
Texted a friend of mine last night who's a physio & she reckoned it could take 10-12 wks max for a full recovery
Had a whole bunch of races planned (2 x 10 miles, 2 x 10ks, 1 x half and the Edinburgh marathon) but they're all out the window now.
Strangely looking forward to some swimming though. Had a heavy running year last year (for me) so maybe an extended break might be a blessing in disguise (grasping at straws now!)
Signed up for this on Christmas Day following a near death by pudding episode...was looking forward to getting into the training after taking a few weeks off over the winter...but fell down the stairs last night & broke 2 toes
Can't see myself on the start line now...i'm guessing the earliest i could start back training would be early March which is too late I think off a low training base.
Not sure if this is full up yet (?) but if anyone is looking for a transfer please let me know
