Injured myself so will be missing it this year. I will not miss the headwind of the last two miles! Good luck to all!

Hoping someone can shed some light on my latest injury. Had plenty of muscle strains / ITB / tendonitis etc etc over the years but this latest injury just feels different. It's on the outside of my right quad and came on really gradually over 3 runs or so. It just feels like a pulled muscle desipte a few days of rest.

Did a 16 miler at the weekend at marathon pace and it didn't really inhibit. Also, not sore to touch but it's just not right. Haven't done any running since but it seems to be taking ages to improve.

Anyone had anything similar? Advice really welcome!

Hi Carpet

Done Chicago - fantastic race! Dead flat, brilliant organisation, pacer groups, amazing support.... the list goes on! Also probably my favourite city. Can you tell I enjoyed it? I'm envious and tempted to join you - just don't tell my lass!!! Could probably wangle a business trip...

Top tip - go up the Hancock tower for drinks afterwards (enter on right side as you look at the building from Michegan Ave) - the view from there is just breathtaking! Then head up to Clark and Division - that's where the action is!

Won't be down for the Chelsea game - off skiing. Don't know how much running I'll fit in that week but can't wait!

Just popping in! Not long to Paris now - good luck to you all. Hope you are in good shape.

Fact for Coops - The shortest escalator is the moving walkway at Okadaya More's Shopping Mall in Kawasaki-shi, Japan. It has a vertical height of 83.4cm (2ft 8in), making it some 20 times smaller than the average escalator.

Don't wish to moan but it's not going so well for me. Injured again - I reckon 2 week lay off is required. Ah well it's just a 6 week taper. I just want to get round London in one piece - any chance of a decent time has gone. Perhaps I can continue my trend of worsening times in my last 7 marathons!

At least the toon have picked up, though it's a real test on Sunday and I'm sure you'll give us a right kicking in the Cup Carpet, especially as your lot will be well up for it after Barca disappointment.

Well finally done it - been for a run with the local running club and my first track session since school!. It's official - I have a heart of a nineteen year old! (HR maxed at 201). Definitely ended up pushing myself harder than I would have on my own - it's got to have a great impact on my running. Nice group of people too!
