My trusty, now rather elderly Garmin 301 has stopped showing my heart rate. The chest strap is clean and undamaged. What has happened? Do I need a new Garmin? Is it repairable? Does it need a new battery or new chest strap or something?
Not much posting from me as there has been little training to report. Unlike aws, I'm finding it quite difficult to regain fitness after my January illness. It meant 3 weeks without running, and now my legs feel heavy and weak (post-viral fatigue, I guess). I'm struggling to make 20 miles per week at the moment, and my pace is shuffly and my hr has gone up.
I've more or less abandoned the idea of my local Wilmslow half in March, and I'm just going to concentrate on regaining my basic fitness. So I'll continue reading but not posting for a while until I can start proper training again, hopefully in a few week's time.
I've just read back over the past few days - I haven't been around because the house is in chaos - I spent some of my retirement lump sum on refurbishing my scruffy old kitchen, so we've had plumbers and fitters and tilers and electricians and floorers trampling through and getting in each other's way all week. Meanwhile, we have been out cadging meals off friends and relatives or boiling a kettle in the lounge to make pot noodles. Ugh.
Anyway, congrats on the pb Pammie, and on the lovely trophy ceal. Good to hear from you again sharkie and sorry to hear that more people have been affected by this winter's virulent bugs, Impey and TS.
My recovery is beginning (thanks for the good wishes Diana) but I'm at that rather dispiriting stage of rebuilding fitness after 3 weeks off. Today I managed a continuous 5 miles at 11:10 pace at around 73% whr. Frustrating, but I have to start again somewhere.
JJ - thanks for the Capetown run - it looks excellent. Will you have time to run in Hong Kong? - I know some good routes if you need them.
