I've just recently joined a running club and have done a couple of intensive Tuesday track sessions (such as a hard 8 x 800m with 60 secs rest between).
Since I've started doing them my legs have still been very tired come Parkrun on Saturday, 4 days later, and my times have slowed fairly significantly because there is just nothing in the legs.
Is this normal? Do you think that I will eventually reap the benefits in a few weeks? Or should I just accept that at the age of 37 my legs just don't recover well and that I should have joined a running club years ago?!
After years of saying I'm going to do it, I am finally giving up smoking. Chucked my last packet away, got my nicorette gum, and away we go. At my peak I am a 19:19 5k runner but that was a couple of years ago and I'm now 35; I'm hoping that cutting out the fags will enable me to get close to that again.
I also drink 3-4 cans of Red Bull per day and these are also getting sacked off as of today. I can't think how drinking Red Bull would have had a negative impact on my running (?), but not good for you anyway so need to be stopped.
Wish me luck and be thankful that you don't live or work with me over the next couple of weeks!
