Name: Jo PearceAge:38Running Background: I have always been a ‘runner’ but only began competing and regularly entering races when I joined a club (SWRR) in Jan 2007. I then found a new enthusiasm and my running has gone from strength to strength. I recently achieved a pb at the Cardiff Half Marathon (1:33:38). Current Goals: I have begun to experiment with longer distance runs and having only ever being a middle distance runner, was surprised how much I enjoyed these. So I have entered some longer distance races, including the famous ‘Grizzly’ and I aim to complete a city marathon next year. I must achieve under 3:45! Reasons for deserving this elite training package:· I was very disappointed to get my FLM rejection. It would fulfil a life ambition to run FLM and be a privilege to train with Steve, Liz and Nick. · To run FLM 2009 is also doubly important to me at this time as I would like to use this opportunity to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cruel disease that is killing my mum. · Finally I feel I train hard and have made some real achievements, but my approach is not always very smart. I suffer ITB and my only coaching has consisted of reading Runners World and a couple of club track sessions! With your help it would be interesting to see the results I could achieve and you never know I could even make the next Olympics!!!
