Thank you. The more we bombard institutions like this, the more chance athletes like her will have in the future.

A lot has to be said about the said Lottery funding.

BCF want medals only and because she is not top 10 in the World they don't want to take her - event though she would put in a strong ride on a course she knows well and will give the home crowd something to cheer about!

Dear all,

As a fellow runner, I regularly read this site with interest. Owing to injury, I began mountain-biking competitively 3 years ago. Therefore, my running days have been limited.

However, I am still a runner at heart and above all, a sports person, which is why I am posting this thread on the only other forum I know.

The British mountain-biking scene is up in arms about the non-selection of the British National Female Champion for the World Championships that are being held in Fort William, British soil(!) in September this year. (More can be read at xcracer.com.) We want as many people as possible to know about this and comment on it so we can rally against the BCF's decision. Her non-selection, despite there being 7 places for senior women, is demoralising and disheartening (especially for other senior women) as she has earnt the right to be there.

Please please please show your support at what can only be called a corrupt outlook on sport in the UK.

Thank you.

Gem x

LizzyB, that's sound advice. I'd enjoy watching the idiots heave as I tried to aim a spit onto the side of the road. I could miss and get them! (Or am I being really disgusting myself now?)

I totally agree Monique and I will not jeopardise MY hobby for psychotic potentials anymore.

I made my poor mother cycle alongside my 10 miler today and God did she whinge. With the wind, I wish I had been on the bike.
