Received my usual didn't qualify for the London Marathon magazine (2010) and just couldn't face another run around Stratford upon Avon, would of been my 5th in a row.

Spent the Saturday morning reading the forum on RW when I came across the thread about ultras..............................long story short (just read Born to Run as well)

Totally caught my imagination looked up ultra races and found the Cardiff Ultra 2011 and entered......................As they say the rest is history and next weekend I'm doing my third Cardiff in a row!!

Hi just read a really interesting artical in irunfar.com

http://www.irunfar.com/2013/03/why-we-dnf.html

why we DNF ed by Geoff Roes. He summed up my idea why I DNF for the first time at this years TP100. I went into the race on the back of a mentally exhausting term at work. (I'm a teacher working with KS4 students 14-16 year old's who have emotional and behavioural issues)

I had a lot of negative toughts prior to the race mainly focusing on the last 13 miles from last years race, which I did gut out (but I always knew I would finish bar injury.) When I almost went in the Thames at mile 43 this was the spark that set off all the negativity I had combined with the mud around Dorney it resulted in the DNF.

Confidence and self belief count for everything for me as long as your not seriously injured. This for me was key. The head went!!

In conclusion I'm not happy but understand better why it happened..............We live to fight/run another day......................Bring it on and a massive well done to all of you who did finish !!

Hello Hill header hope your year is going well !! I think I'm going to give this one a miss next year with the view of entering the SDW100. Two years of mud have done me in ha. . . . .
Running on the Saturday of last year was truly great all round the Sunday was a slog as was this years TP.
Great race and orgainsiation but not Kean on the weather
