A few months back I was minding my own business when suddenly my left foot went CRACK...I knew something was amiss as the floor came rushing up to meet my face (I have a keen sense for these sorts of things). It was extremely painful afterwards and all signs pointed towards a stress fracture.
Doctor sent me to A&E, but they found nothing in the x-ray and told me to bugger off home. I stayed off it for a while; put my brand new running schedule on the back burner, and eventually it seemed to get better. Then a couple of weeks ago I was running (for the bus) and it seemed to flare up again...minus the crack this time – thank god!
This was a week before Tough Mudder, which I still went ahead and did. Surprisingly my foot held up well – I bandaged the chuff out of it – and there was little pain during the race. It’s been almost two weeks since TM now and my foot is more uncomfortable than painful. It appears to be ever so slightly swollen...taking my shoes off is bliss!
I don’t really know what I’m asking here as I think I already know what will be said.
Rest, rest, rest.
But is there anything else I can be doing in the meantime? Any other training that will help recovery or keep my legs in shape until I can get back to pounding the pavements?
