That was the second largest of all time, only the 5th anniversary at Bushy managed more with 806. There's loads of other parkruns nearby now, in Kingston, Richmond Park, Wimbledon Common, Bedfont Lakes, but Bushy still draws in the crowds!
I think it is just an increase in demand on the site, year on year parkrun has been getting bigger, and given how good the weather has been recently, there have been many first timers who have increased the demand on the site.
To the runner above enquiring about your time and position, normally the system is fairly seamless, for example at Bushy Park on Saturday we had 672 runners, and managed to cope, just!
Your time is related to your position token given to you after the finish, and these are given in the order of the finishers so normally there is no confusion. The timekeeper at the finish line records all the finishing times, and these times correspond to the finishing positions. Normally there's no mix up, but if you think there was you should e-mail Leedsoffice@parkrun.com.
Just an update, more people have come forward to help us set this up, but if you can help us in any way let me know, the more volunteers the better. It looks like the course we have will get the thumbs up, so we're gonna have a test event soon, before the weekly parkrun. I hope to see many of you at Windsor Great Park's parkrun.
I'm sure most of you are familiar with parkrun and what they do already, so I won't go into too much detail here, basically parkrun supports volunteers who set up 5k runs in parks every Saturday morning around the UK and some overseas as well.
I want to get a parkrun started in Windsor Great Park, we already have a possible course but it is by no means concrete - if you have any ideas for a possible 5k course all suggestions are welcome. The only rule about a possible course it to make sure it doesn't cross roads or follow along side a road.
We have support from the local running clubs, Runnymede Runners and Datchet Dashers as well as a few local people who have come forward. We need as many local people as we can to try and drum up some support and interest in making an event possible here, I think it would be an amazing location. We are speaking to the Crown Estate as well as we will need their permission to host the event
If you can help us in any way set up this parkrun, or any suggestions or comments, please message me and I'll tell you how you can help us further at this stage.
