Hi wondering if anyone has had this problem. I normally run 40-50 miles a week but have recently broken/dislocated my thumb which now has some temporary pins to keep it all in place. the doc says that i can't get the cast wet and this includes sweat as i'm likely to get an infection where the pins go in. i'm feeling very depressed at the thought of watching my fitness quickly drain away for the 4-6 weeks i'm in cast. anyone any advice for keeping some kind of fitness without involving heavy sweating? thanks Otis |

Hey 15West, if you have a GFA time there's no need to enter the ballot. you have until sometime in july (i think - so double check) to get your entry in. i usually send them a screen shot print of the results page or if you get an e-certificate, send them that. after that they send you the information to enter and you just fill it in, pay the money and return the form by the date they ask. |

Choisty, Really enjoyed your race report. i'm staggered that you can remember each mile with such clarity. you must really have been focussed out there. i would vote for C then F (but adjust the C to be 5ks and 10ks). don't waste the endurance that you've built up. and then when you're in great 5k and 10k shape at the end of the summer you can then turn back to marathon with fantastic speed in your legs. My VLM plan is 6:15's to 20 and re-assess (hopefully to be a bit quicker). only problem is my brother is running with me and he's targetting 2:40 so i've got to be very disciplined not to go with him. |
