Oh dear - all this illness. At least everyone will be well for Christmas (ever the optimist).
Is anyone running? I have managed to do runs during this bad weather - a lot off road which is a first for me and I have really enjoyed - although it is hard work, especially running through deep snow or with half a ploughed field stuck to the soles of my shoes. My limit was an hour max. Yesterday I did my first road run in over two weeks and hated it! I felt so tired and slow. I was hoping/expecting it to be easy and when it wasnt I struggled. It was supposed to be 10 miles but I baled out and did 7.5 instead. Perhaps I am in need of a rest day, but I dont want to not go out when I can in case we get the awful weather that is forecast.
Kelly - well done on your 10k - I know it wasnt the time you wanted, but great just to have a race. Your time was almost the exact time I did in my 10k last week.
Thirsk is looking promising - although last week I concentrated on getting my mileage back up - managed 50 miles - all steady. this week will do the same but might try and add in 3 miles at HMP?? I am away Sat/Sun so will have two days off! That is a massive thing for me! Hopefully I will then be rearing to go.
I did 10k yesterday - undulating/hilly. Enjoyed it but disappointed with my time 44:36 and was third. The first lady was 43:30 and second 44:10 so on a good day I could have won! I keep telling myself it was only 13 days after Dublin mara, but I just feel that I missed the opportunity for a first ever win. My legs were tired at about 4 miles and I should have pushed on during mile 5 but dropped to 7:30 pace. Also, I dont feel like I have any speed. I dont know what to do now to prepare for Thirsk 10 - I really want to go under 71 mins but realistically dont think I can. Bit of a reality check!
