I quit drinking on new years eve 4 years ago. I used to drink a lot. Maybe 8 cans of lager a night, probably 9 out of 10 nights. Im a big lad so i never really used to get too drunk, i just REALLY enjoyed drinking.
The first few days were the hardest for me. Then i aimed at a week, then a month and that was it. The ONLY time i fancy a pint is at the end of a long day on the hills. I never do though and generally settle for an ice lolly or something.
I cant say that i didnt enjoy my drinking years as i had a blast, however there comes a time when you have to start looking after yourself with a view to living a long life. The fact that you have been running for 4 years shows that you are commited to this and having the motivation to run 3-4 times a week would suggest that you should have the willpower to give up.
Not so much ice around newcastle this evening; more slush than anything so sticking to the roads was the best option for me. Countless stoppages to let traffic go by but i try to keep to the quieter roads if i can (or the busier paths).
Spotted a few others out and about stretching their legs. First time ive seen anyone out in days.
