tricialitt glad you're recovering from your ultra. I did a HM 4 weeks after Loch Ness and have suffereded for it!! Back in training from yesterday as I have felt so tired. Nothing arranged for next race yet although it will only be HM's for a while. Looking at Inskip (Preston) HM in Jan. See how training goes between now and the end of the year. |

Alan Taylor and Brian - This was the best event I have ever taken part in and I've done a few in the last 20 years. I'm sure you will be disappointed about the turn point marker but these things happen, anyway I probably added much more by not running the true race line!! To be honest I was really struggling at that point and to see I had taken over 10 minutes to do that 'mile' was a huge spur for me to get my figure out and get a move on again. It was a proper test of a course (which I love) made even more difficult by the conditions which are the worse I have ever run in since my school days doing cross country!! Well done to everybody with the organisation and a huge thank you to the people of Preston for turning out in such horrendous conditions!! Hopefully I will still be fit enough the next time Preston Guildhall comes around in 20 years!! |

Fantastic race, organisation, support and marshalling. Best I've seen for sometime. I can't understand all the cafuffle over the length of the course, there is actually no way that anybody could run the exact race line, most of us will take on something from the feeding stations, overtake and dodge people as well, never mind garmins are not 100% accurate. TThe fact is that the course has been measured and certified as being the correct distance by somebody who knows what they are doing!! Anyway, rant over. I did 1.54 for the half, 4 minutes more than I was aiming for but the conditions were just horrendous plus the course was hillier than the average, say compared to Wilmslow, Blackpool, Chester for example so don't feel too disappointed. Well done to evertbody who took part, I hop you have dried out!! |

Got my number for the half too. 4972. I'll be wearing my Help for Heroes running vest, maybe with another underneath if its as cold as today. Expo's are expo's, even London isn't anything to write home about i think Im going to park in the bus station, did that this morning and there is plenty of room. Good luck to everybody, hope the wind isn't too bad, not too bothered about the rain except for those cheering us on. |

Loch Ness is the best I have done. The scenery is just stunning. On top of that it was a great race too. I did Liverpool last year and that is definitely the next best!! Any news on next year Alan. |
