hi everyone

can i join you? am doing london marathon next year (will be my first marathon) and aiming for sub  5hours- so your group sounded perfect!

i used to run a lot, but in recent years have got a bit lazy, so now just gradually trying to remind my legs what running is and build up the miles..

wow.

I've just come across this tread and flicked through your journey from 0-marathon.

well done.

I am currently doing a 0-marathon training plan (also from ascis) for the london marathon next year. I am on week 4, and my initial excitment and motivation was feeling a bit weak today- probably due to the cold/rain/tired, hense my visit to runnersworld. then I saw this thread and am truely motivated to complete my challenge.

I wasnt sure 26 weeks would be enough to go from fat and lazy to marathon finisher, but seeing you achieve it in such an inspirational way has given me hope

congratulations and good luck with your future running, gj

I'm in
It'll be my first marathon and I've got a real mixture of excitement and fear already!
I'm relatively new to running- I've done a couple of half marathons in the past, but always just to keep my fitness up for other sports! It's only the last few months I've learnt to love running for running if that makes sense!
Any tips on training plans? There seems so many out there.

thanks guys,

you'll be pleased to know after reading your replies this afternoon i dragged myself out for a run i didnt go very fast or for very long, but i went and that's the main thing

thanks for all your encouragement and help.

have also booked my place on a couple of festive fun runs to give me something to aim for int he short term.

as for the comments about runnig with people, that;s a great idea, just worried i'd be too slow for a running club... maybe if i get myself a bit fitter and faster that will be soemthing to aim for.

hey,

I know running is good for me, I know i really enjoy it, I know the feeling you get after a good run is amazing, I know it relives stress, i know it makes me happy, i know it helps maintain weight, fight off illness and is just generally brilliant.

yet i cant make myself go for a run..

thought maybe was just a bit of fatigue and gave my self a few guilt free days off.. but now just cant seem to get myself out of the door.

i know i should. i know i want to. but i just cant seem to motivate myself!!

help!

anyone else going though/been through a similar phase?

what motivates you to run...?

think i just need to put my trainers on and go for it.... but am failing miserably!
