i've just bought a pair of Newton Gravity shoes and i thought i'd add my two penneth worth!
I wore them last night for the first time, they are very light and comfortable but a bit strange to walk in or to run at a slow pace. I ran two miles and it felt quicker but mainly felt like i wasn't having to put much effort in.There isn't much cushioning so i'll let you know how i get on when i've done a longer run.I see what they mean about building up the mileage,my calves feel like they've had real workout this morning!
I'll keep you posted as to how i get on but at the moment i like them. Also i bought them for £102 with free delivery at www.primera-bournemouth.co.uk they are the 2008 model so the colours are a bit mental but i couldn't find them any cheaper anywhere.
I was training for a 1/2M until a week ago,i went from running 5 miles to 7 miles and i felt an ache on the outside of my left knee.So my next run i dropped down to 4.5 miles,i had more pain on the outside of my left knee and a little on the right.I rested up for 5 days then tried to run but walked home after 5mins because of sharp pains in my left leg and a little less in my right.
I now haven't run for 10 days the pain is hardly there when i walk but returns if i excert my legs,i also have a mild dead leg pain in my left leg!
I already have custom orthotics for a leg length decrepancy, could the problem be over excertion or ITBS? I have an appointment in three weeks with the podiatrist, but i just thought someone may recognise whats going on.....
looking for similar advice,im tempted to run in the M.k. Half on July 20th this year.My training is going ok,but iv'e only managed 7.5miles as my long run.Is 4 weeks long enough to bring myself up to distance? A runner friend told me to get to 10miles then taper down and i should be fine, does this sound do-able?
Thanks for the ideas and sympathy. The adidas cushion shoes were from sweatshop m.k.(very near northants)the staff analysed my gait there. The second shoes were advised by the blackberry clinic mk,the first injury specialist i saw said all my ailments were trapped nerves?? hence the second opinion at the blackberry. There they said my left calf muscle was short and i tore my soleus(i think)muscle, the exercises have done wonders until i run.I ran 6miles it was great, then did a quick 3mile 3days later that damaged the calf 12 weeks ago.I,ve had no ultrasound just acupuncture.Any ideas, thanks again.
