I did a 10k race on Monday night. Had a great time, went home happy, woke up the next day with bruising under my eye. I hadn't been drinking or fighting. Its been a week now and its still the same, its not faded or anything. Its not painful no broken veins just a red/black mark not even any swelling. Has anyone else had this what is it ??

Thanks you two for this - no pain around the knee at all its weird - but I think you are right Juggler I think it is a bruised bone. I am just in a panic cause of the race. I have decided to give the race a miss. I have quite a few races coming up in Sept and dont want to knacker them up for the sake of one race.I will do some steady jogging or cycling in a couple of days and keep up with the RICE. It does feel a lot better though. I think I just did too much all at once.

I banged my kneecap the other Saturday and got a normal size bruise but no swelling. Since then it hurts when I run or walk downhill and cycle uphill. The bruise has gone but the kneecap is sore to touch. I have still run and cycled but it got worse when I went speed training road/track at the club I have a 10 mile race on Saturday eek !! Tried the usual Ibuprophen/RICE/stretches whats up with it. Still no swelling.
