i came up behind some elderly walkers on a trail run and thought they'd spotted me but clearly hadn't as one old duffer seemed shocked as i passed him. he then began to shout at me saying i should follow the 'countryside code' and make a loud noise to warn them of me. i shouted back something to do with victor meldrew and kept running.
here in north yorkshire there are plenty of friendly fell races at ??6 a go. no medal or tshirt but a fantastic experience. check out the esk valley fell racing site for details.
easy run but after a mile or so i noticed this pain (bit like a cramp) in my lower calf and throughout my run the back of my leg/hamstring started feeling tighter and tighter until after 8 miles i had to stop. running up hills seemed to make it worse. felt like the entire back of my leg had tightened up. stretched plenty afterwards to loosen it up but i'm now walking around with a limp. i didn't stretch before the run but my initial pace is so slow (9'30 min mile) it's a warm-up. this morning my leg is still tight so well cheesed off.
