Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a similar problem and I was wondering if anyone knows of any cardio exercise that can be done with PF that won't aggravate it?
I'm trying to come back to running after pregnancy and still have a stone to lose before I'm back at my running weight. My GP (a fellow runner) said the additional weight isn't helping me. Sadly I'm the kind of person who needs to exercise to lose weight. If I only ate lettuce and celery, I'd not lose an ounce.
Swimming is not an option for me and normally I run 4x a week then do BodyPump and BodyCombat 2x a week - all of which are aggravating the PF.
As Kwala says you sound like you have a sensible plan there, especially by not timing yourself.
I'm on my way back from pregnancy (ie no exercise and eating for quadruplets) and just started running again last week.
Am finding it really hard to find the right balance to ensure I push myself but don't give up too soon so I'm doing interval training on my dreadmill.
Likewise, when I can run a certain distance then I will start thinking about logging my running more seriously, but for the time being it's just a case of getting any fitness level back.
Kwala, your wise words rang in my ears when I was running today and I completed my intervals, just at a slower pace than I would've liked but it made sure I got through them rather than trying to go flat out and failing after the first one. Knew I'd get some sensible support from the forums!
Ecky, don't put yourself down so about the club running. Still think it's an amazing thing and hopefully you'll get the bug and come on in leaps and bounds! Good luck at the GMFR.
My little one is being a bit random with her night sleeping still. Last night was the worst night we've had for a while and I didn't drag myself out of bed til 9am which is unheard of for me (was up at 2am with her and was really tempted to sneak out and run when I finally got her settled at 5am). But I wouldn't swap her for the world. Can't believe she's nearly eight weeks already!
We have our (belated) six week check at the doctors tomorrow where I shall ask permission to start running again. Am hoping it's the nice lady doctor who is a runner and will be sympathetic to my urge to run and not someone who peddles the nonsense that I shouldn't be back running til 6 months.
Well I have to try and become a more regular poster on here as I need loads of support and mojo now I'm back "running".
Completed week one of the fridge plan which was a simple run walk of 1 min on, 1 min off x10 then two days of 2 mins on, 4 mins off x 5 which I did at 6mph on my dreadie.
Today's effort should've been 3 on, 3 off but I missed it due to hubby going to work in London and me having a baby that refuses to take a nap so absolutely have to fit the run in tomorrow. And I'm dreading it. With an extra 2.5 stone to plod with, I'm finding it really hard. I'm struggling to remind myself that I can't restart running at speeds I ran before (well a 0.5mph slower than before) even though I'm only doing run/walk intervals and running much less than before.
Am very jealous of all the fab running that's been going on.
Ecky, I'm truly inspired by your club running. Amazing. Even if I was running like before I got up the duff, I would never have been brave enough to do that. Big respect to you!
And well done to Albs and Kat for doing so fabulously the marathon. I'm in the ballot for next year too but I'm in the Burnie/Weeny "Please don't let me get in" camp.

Am itching to get back running but have to wait another three weeks for my six week check (my doctor's surgery aren't very good at maths!) so tomorrow I'm going to go back on my treadmill to start some uphill walking in preparation for doing a beginners plan the minute I get the green light from my GP.
Would also like to wish Albs and Kat all the best for Sunday. Will be watching out for you with my feet up and a nice cuppa )
Just put myself into the ballot for next year because I had an email from VLM this morning saying they're getting rid of the automatic place after five rejections thingy and if I don't use my priority ballot place this year then they will cast me aside forever. I am praying I don't get in!!!

My name is Lil Ms Squirrel (aka Becks) and I'm currently not running and really fat and will be back to being a beginner when the weather is better....oh and when my stomach is much less fat...which is roughly seven weeks away...plus the mandatory six weeks rest...darn, I have to wait another 13 weeks before I can run????
Mo well done running four miles today. I managed to drive less than that before abandoning my car and walking back home. Most exercise I've had in months!
