I went to Run and Become yesterday, assistant wasnt too helpful., However tried on an Asics Trabuco which was quite a good fit, and also a New Balance 874 - which wasnt soo good, it looked like the tread would wear quite quickly on any hard packed trail or road use. So i think my options are the Salomon XA comp - which I have tried on and liked, the Salomon XC pros - which i havent tried yet, but seems to get good reviews, and the Asics Trabuco. Now to find a good price....maybe online sales?! |

im going to go into a running store today and check out some of your recommendations. So far the Saloman xa comp seems to be what we liked in a previous store, but I'm slightly worried about the narrow fit, as i have quite wide feet. As it is Im having to wear men's to get the length. Will see how i go at the store today! |

Hi, Me and a friend have entered a half marathon in February - a trail one. We are used to running of tarmac, but also in parks; however think that we will need a decent actual trail shoe for this upcoming race. I require a neutral running shoe, as I have orthotics I'll need to put in them. My road running shoe is an Asics Nimbus which has been great for me. We have looked a few shoes and Salomon and Inov8 seem to be quite a common, well-respected shoe. Does anyone have any advice or comments on shoes they've used which have been good? Thanks heaps, B. |

Thanks. I think i will take note and cut down to three runs a week and try to focus on increasing my pace without increasing my distance too fast over the next 4 weeks. And heres hoping for an injury -free good half marathon! B |

Hi all, I have a query about increasing mileage. I did a half marathon in may 1.52 (with a bit of chest infection). After this I didnt really do too much. I was doing ~16km (2x8km runs/week). In August I entered a half marathon and increased my running. Im now running 35-44km (over 4 runs) in a week but have had a bit of niggling pain in my foot. Im about to get new shoes as I think this could be a contributor, but also wondered if I had increased my mileage too quickly. The half marathon is 12th Oct and I would really like to do sub 1.50 (optimally like to do 1.45) Have i got the time to increase my mileage and pace without injury? (currently run 14.5km in 1h15) Thanks to any tips!! Brenda. |
