I've signed up for this. To be honest, I never thought my hometown would stage a marathon so I had to enter! I ran five, 4 mile loops at the weekend and it was boring as hell. I fear mentally, I may not be quite ready for this!
I'd say the last 7 miles are mostly flat but with 2 or 3 small inclines and some nice gentle down hill sections, there is only really the one significant hill which climbs for approx .5mile at (I'd guess) about 9 miles in. There are plenty of other smaller climbs but none that go on for any great distance.
I ran this for the first time last year and echo the previous comments. I really enjoyed it, despite setting off too fast and then hitting that hill the other side of Betley! It was tough for me from then on. Having said that I'm entering again this year and then doing the Windermere Marathon the next weekend.....
I'd recommend it to anyone, very friendly, supportive and above all great fun!
Hello all. I live less than a mile away and am planning to run this one too. It certainly won't be hilly as its flat round here, although the public footpaths and fields are quite muddy at the moment!
I've been injured the last couple of weeks too. I've entered the Wolverhampton Marathon as my last long run on 7/9. A bit closer to the HP40 than I wanted but need to test my leg on a good run a couple of weeks before this...
