If it is your patella that is causing you pain, then a patella support strap may be the answer. You can get them from most good technical sports shops for circa £12.00. I have been using one for about 12 months and it enables me to do the 10k's that I enter and am pushing for the half marathon distance. It really could make a difference. Regards,
Thanks for reply. Doc says lower cholesterol great and upper excellent. BP 134 over 84 this morning. They haven't done a urine test yet, maybe that's next. However, we are off to Malta for a few days on Monday, so all will have to wait until after that. I am booked to do 4 more 10k's this year and feel as fit as I have ever done.
Hi, Having reached the great age of 62 this year and having run for most of my adult life, I decicded to have an MOT and booked in for blood tests and an ECG at our very well run surgery. Everything all ok and normal with the exception of a higher than normal reading of blood glucose. Off to hospital for a glucose tolerence test and a letter from my doctor later confirmed type 2 diabetes. I am of normal build, 10 stone 9lb and am presently running 10k's in 55 mins. Very healthy diet and even the doc's puzzled. I have given another sample of blood for analysis and await the outcome of that. In the meantime I thought I would post to see if anyone else has encountered a similar problem and how they have coped. Glad I decided to have the health check, so at least I am aware of the problem, though what I can do to better my already healthy lifestyle I don't know. Regards, Phil Stansfield
