I had cramp at the start! Only slight and went away until mile 9 then came back bad. Was aiming to beat 4h on my 1st marathon and ended up with 4h 17 Had to stop 4 times to stretch for a min or 2. At no point did i have to walk Pleased thought as it was my 1st and i know i can do better. Once i knew under 4h was not going to happen i took in the sights Did anyone run pass me....I had "Beam Me Up Scotty!" On my back What a great day and a great atmosphere! Well done everyone
ONe question..... ive ran 356 miles this year and the only run ive had cramp in was today!
Same here. Sore throat Sunday morning and felt like crap all week. Hope tomorrow I will be feeling better. Like you say I also often feel stronger after a bad cold so maybe it's going to improve my time. One thing is for sure, I'm more determined to do well and not let this effect my run. I know my pace and plan and will stick to it!!!!
3 months training. 2 bad knees, shin splints, back spasm. But all seems fine, on my taper but now i wake up on sunday with a sore throat, last night high temperature and now come ive a bunged up nose and sneezing. 5 nights till London Marathon...will i be ok.!
Spoons. Never done a half or marathon. Fastest 10k race is 45min From the runs ive done im looking at getting around 4+hours
Well looking at all the advice i think pace and fluids was the reason. 500ml is way off what i need doing 20+ miles. Lesson learned. Gels ordered also. Think my comfortable running pace is 8.15 so need to slow down a tad. Maybe aim for 8.30
Are people able to hold a steady pace for 26 miles or do most people drop off towards the end. Done a steady 3 yesterday at 8.15. Now going to rest for the week and do my last big run before London. Will try 20-22 with plenty of drink!
