Does anyone know of a charity that collects used trainers? Not the ones I was going to bin, obviously, but the ones that have lost their bounce and won't do for Marathon training. I found one website, but I can't afford to post them abroad, so am looking for a collection point in the UK. Can anyone help?
Mabel40, from the info that I've gleaned on here, any marathon that has been officially measured, will do. Have you checked the new time-bands for GFA because they "moved the goalposts" this year! I also hope that my Amsterdam Marathon will get me in (I'm inside my time-band) - just waiting to apply in September! May see you on the start line then!
I now have a qualifying time for Boston 2013 (4hrs 25 as I'm 65 just 4 days before next year's race) so plan to send my application in, as soon as registration opens in September. Anyone thought about travel (from UK)? Or has anyone else done it before and can pass on travel advice, in do's and don't's? I hope to be able to see something of the area too, between saving my legs for the big day and not having won the Lottery to fund it! Any ideas?
Make a date to restart when you get back from your holiday! Write it on a calendar, or find a buddy who will run with you. Restarting is never easy but once you get going, just follow the plan (these guys know what they are talking about when they write these plans) and you will get there in the end.
And maybe try and find a club that will take you sooner - I get a lot of support from my running buddies, even though I have to travel a way to meet up!
