Merry Christmas

no achievments for me- all disappointing. I've hardly done any races and my mileage is way down on last year. However, I have spent a lot of time working on my house so can't do everyhting I suppose.

I'll be working more hours from January and there's still work to be done at home so 2013 might not be much better. Got to try and get some more miles in though, I'm feeling incredibly lardy. I'm contemplating the Roadhogs cross country series so that'll be a start.

Shame that no-one posts any more but I suppose we're all busy doing other stuff. It'd be good to resurrect it though.

I've been very slack with my running this year - mainly due to buying a house that needs a bit of work doing- it's coming along nicely but not much time for owt else, unless you count going to work (If anyone can recommend a good plumber I'd be grateful)

I've still been getting out a couple of times a week though- just ticking over. Having said that, I ran about 7.5 very hilly miles this morning through Grenoside woods.

Not really race fit sadly. I'd have liked to do Barnsley 10k next week- it's a nice race. I think I've got a soft spot for it because it's the first 10k race I did.

Worst meal ever was at the Sheffield United ground function suite a couple of Christmas's ago. I'm vegan and of course had pre ordered a vegan meal. The starter was tepid vegetable soup. When I asked if it was vegan I was told in a surly manner 'it's vegetable'. so I explained why it might not be vegan and after consultaion with the 'chef' was told 'it sould be alright'. While the rest of the people on my table were tucking into their turkey I waited and waited for my meal- a pile of soggy, microwaved, veg (like the type you get frozen in bags) topped with a thick, gloopy chip shop style curry sauce. When I complained I was offered a bottle of wine for the table. I was driving that night so wasn't impressed that I'd had a terrible meal and my freinds who'd had a reasonable meal were going to get wine!

I don't eat out often- most places find it impossible to provide a decent vegan meal, even when given some notice- it's not that difficult really

I haven't had a TV for 2 and a half years and don't miss it one bit- don't watch anything on iplayer either. People's reaction when I tell them is either sheer horror- 'no tv??? so what do you do'?. Like there's nothing else to do other than watch TV , or 'well I only watch the news and documentaries'

the BBC seem to have stopped writing to me now.

Evening all- well today's recce of next Saturday's Cake Race didn't go quite as planned- bloomin awful wind (not me of course- the weather), felt like I was going to get blown over more than once! We chickened out and just did 5 miles instead of 10 and went to the pub It was lovely to see Stu and Ruth- Stu was very patient- he could have done it much faster without being handicapped by me. At least the conditions can't be anywhere near as bad on race day (can they)?

Well done Mozzy and Pops
