I haven't been running much recently because of a shoulder injury. After a 50 min run last week, my left foot was very painful and hasn't really improved much since.
I have a sharp pain near the front left of my left foot. It gets worse when I place my foot flat on the ground and raise my toes or when I put direct pressure on the area.
It does seem to improve a little each night but by lunchtime the next day is quite painful. I don't really do much walking around in work though.
Basically i'm wondering what my approach should be ? As far as I can see, the symptoms would suggest its a bone rather than muscular problem but I also have what feels like a slight strain under the arch on the same foot. I don't want to go to the hastle and expense of an x ray if it's something that will heal with rest anyway. I also have my doubts about an x-ray picking the problem up.
Have any of you experienced anything similar or any suggestions ?? Any thoughts welcome ??
I have been having trouble with my Left ankle ever since I finished a marathon back in Late October.
At first I assumed it was typical aches and pains but after a month of rest it still hadn't cleared up. The pain hasn't gotten any wrose or better. I have tried a few gentle runs and it doesn't seem to make it any worse although it does get uncomfortable after a while.
Basically, I get a sharp pain in the front of my ankle when I tilt my foot upwards and to about 10 o'Clock.
I went for a few sessions of Physio and they told me that it was probably a ligament problem. However the physio (combination of massage and EMS) didn't seem to do any good. At my last session, she suggested that I give it 10-12 days to calm down and if it didn't to come back to her. To me, it sounded like she didn't really know what to do and was hoping that it would clear up by itself. As such, I am reluctant to keep going back and forking out for Pysio if it isn't solving the problem.
I am at my wits end at this point as I haven't been running for the past couple of months because of this. I was wondering if any of you may have had similar problems or would have any suggestions as to what I should do ?
I have tried almost every style and shape of regular goggles and just can't find ones I can wear contacts with without some water getting in. I know use one of the larger style ones like mini diving masks - absolutely no leakage. You should really give them a go. Try the Tri UK web-site. Adidas also do a version of it that is available in a lot of the mainstream "sports" shops
