sorry baldbloke that funnel on the Mall was probably for all us 10kers haha todays run was the british 10k. Completed it in 1 hour 12 mins and 09 seconds. Very pleased
Cidlad thanks and yes running style def contributes to injury... ive had less problems with my back since learning to run focusing on the ground 20ft ahead instead of 2! make me run more upright!
thanks ashamed to say I had already had to lose a couple stone back in 2007 when I first started running *turned to then-partner one day in april and said "Im gonna run Dublin marathon this year" -he replied "yea alright" - I DID as well lol*. Post baby number two that was conceived very soon after marathon I had piled it all on again AND MORE. THIS time I am determined to KEEP it off. Hasnt been easy tho. 6 days a week in the gym, plus boxing and hockey. My life did a 360 the day I joined Fitness First Bognor. Not only did I lose a whole small persons worth of weight, I became a sports therapist and now work for a local football team. Not bad for a girl who HATED PE at school and refused to do it! HAHA
Running British 10k Sunday ( dont even get me started) so because ive been plagued by ill health recently (chest infection became bronchitis) Ive not trained as much as I would have liked. Im not a regular runner and dont pretend to be. I love it but I couldnt be someone who did it religiously (ducking from things being thrown) I just get hyped to run high profile races for charity and thats enough for me but means I always leave it too late to start training....anyhoo.... 6 rest days to make sure I FINALLY get rid of the cough I have had for 5 months (yea thanks NHS advert, my 10 year old son thinks I have cancer. No dear, I have asthma and im a workaholic so I keep pushing myself even when Im ill). Felt I NEEDED to do something today tho just to get myself physically and mentally prepared for Sunday.....
Treadmill intervals for 24 mins on a 0.5 incline. 4 mins of 30sec/30sec splits at 7.0 jog speed and 8.0 run speed, 2 mins walking at 6.0 speed x 4 sets. 2.8km covered in 24 mins. I wasnt going to push myself and waste energy. Heart rate max 162 while running, 142 while walking.
*minor details that are worth noting- im 28, ive recently lost 6.5 stone (currently down to 12.5), since quitting smoking my VO2 max has increased from 21 to 36.8 Thats my excuse for my slow pace and im sticking to it because its still faster than when im sat on the sofa haha
